Ahmed al‑Siqali regresa a Gaza tras tres años de separación y seis certificados de muerte

Ahmed al‑Siqali left Gaza a week before the genocide that began in October 2023 to work in Israel. For almost three years he was trapped in the West Bank, unable to return to his family.

In December 2023, an Israeli strike hit the home where his seven children were sheltering in Gaza City’s al‑Sahaba neighbourhood, killing six of them. The loss left him with only one child and a heavy grief.

Last month, Israeli forces raided a compound in Qalqilya where he was staying with other Gaza labourers. He was detained for two weeks before finally being sent back to Gaza.

“Returning to Gaza and embracing my family had been my dream, especially durin” — he said, reflecting the pain of a father who had waited for years.

His return marks the end of a long separation and the beginning of a painful process of rebuilding a family shattered by war.
