Cerca de 200.000 haitianos devueltos a la fuerza este año, informa la ONU

Ago 28, 2026·8:14 PM

Nearly 200,000 people were forcibly returned to Haiti in the first eight months of 2026, according to a U.N. official who spoke at an emergency Security Council meeting on Friday.

The figure was presented just days after a brutal gang attack near the capital that left almost 50 dead. The official warned that the mass expulsions exacerbate the humanitarian crisis, adding that many of those returned lack basic shelter, food and medical care. «These forced returns violate international law and put vulnerable families at greater risk,» he said, urging the council to pressure the countries involved.

Humanitarian groups fear the surge will overwhelm Haiti’s already strained services, potentially increasing displacement and disease outbreaks. The United Nations is calling for coordinated assistance and a review of the policies that enable such large‑scale repatriations.
